Erin and Ben Napier are back with a brand new renovation show for HGTV where they’ll tackle their biggest project yet: revamping an entire small town. When will Home Town Takeover premiere?
Home Town Takeover will premiere on HGTV on Sunday, May 2, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. It will also available to stream on discovery+ beginning May 2.
What is Home Town Takeover about?
In Home Town Takeover, Erin and Ben Napier leave their close-knit community of Laurel, Mississippi, and lend their talents to another small town: Wetumpka, Alabama. While the HGTV hosts will give at least one home a facelift during the series, they’ll be focusing more on renovating public spaces in the towns. Fans can expect to see 12 major renovations all over Wetumpka, including restaurants, shops, a farmers’ market, an entire downtown street, and more. Along the way, Erin and Ben will have some help from a few familiar faces.

Why did Erin and Ben Napier renovate Wetumpka?
Last year, HGTV put out a call looking for small towns in need of a special makeover. The submissions allowed folks from all over the country to put their close-knit community on the map and prove why it deserved an upgrade. Over 5,000 entries were made on HGTVHomeTownTakeover.com, making the decision even more difficult. As the network explains in a press release: “HGTV selected Wetumpka because, despite hardships, natural disasters and unexpected setbacks, the community’s undying spirit and resilience showed that they were ready to kickstart a comeback with HGTV’s help.”
Any Home Town Takeover spoilers?
Yes! HGTV revealed that in the first episode, Erin and Ben Napier will work on a colorful mural enlisting the help of some local students. Later in the series, Dave and Jenny Marrs will team up with the Napiers to complete a home renovation for a loving foster family. Also, Sheryl Crow will perform a concert on Wetumpka’s main street.
Ahead of the premiere, fans can tune in to a new two new digital series about the series. Road to the Takeover, premiering Sunday, April 25, will follow host Jason Pickens as he introduces fans to Wetumpka, and offers a first look at a few of the featured renovations. In Tales from the Takeover, every Monday beginning May 3, Jason will chat with Ben and Erin to get their perspective on each episode of Home Town Takeover. Both series will be available to watch across the network’s Facebook and IGTV, and on HGTV.com.
